Use farming modules or the communal farm to produce materials.
farm
farm [status]
Show the status and needs of nearby or carried farming modules. Look at a
module to see how far along it is and what it is short of.
Each installed module sits in a numbered bay. When several share a name,
name one by its bay, as in tend bay 2, or by its place in line, as in
tend second cultivation bed.
farm buy
farm buy <module or supply>
Buy farming equipment or supplies. You can only use the menu while inside a plot you rent. The price of these goes up as more of them exist in the game. Some may stop being sold once a quota is reached.
farm install
farm install <module>
Install a carried module in an open bay of your rented plot.
farm uninstall
farm uninstall <module>
Remove an empty module from your rented plot. A portable one still grows simple
stock off the plot, for whoever owns it; give it away and the new holder owns it.
A fixed one goes back to the plot, which pays you part of the price if you bought it.
plant
plant <crop/stock> [strain <strain-lot>] in <module>
Load matching starter stock into an empty module. Use the optional strain lot to select a specific lineage.
In a room that is not a plot, three portable modules can grow at once, whoever owns them. The ones you carry count too.
tend
tend <module>
Tend an active growing cycle.
gather
gather <module>
Gather a mature crop and clear its module.
gather communal
Work communal beds in the room. Public beds and public cisterns share one
rolling daily allowance.
farm collect
farm collect <module>
Collect a renewable livestock yield or mature offspring.
farm slaughter
farm slaughter <module>
Slaughter mature livestock for materials and clear its module.
farm feed
farm feed <module> [with <supply>]
Feed livestock in a farming module.
farm fertilize
farm fertilize <module> [with <supply>]
Apply fertilizer to a crop module.
farm light
farm light <module> = <level>
Upgrade a module's grow lights. This command spends coin.
farm soil
farm soil <module>
Replace spent soil in a module. This command spends coin.
farm process
farm process <bioreactor>
Process stored waste in a bioreactor.
farm compost
farm compost <bioreactor>
Load carried rotted tissue into a bioreactor.
farm inspect
farm inspect [growable]
Read your notes on carried seed and stock: what each lot shows, which way it
leans, and, as your eye improves, how settled it is and what it carries out of
sight.
Example: farm inspect hemp
farm breed
farm breed <growable>:<parent> + <parent> = <name> [stable/balanced/experimental] [in <module>]
Cross two lots of one species in an empty module. Tend it through the cycle,
then farm collect it: three new lots of your named line, and both parents
back. Experimental crosses throw rare sports more often.
Saved seed from a harvest is the plant crossed with itself. A settled line
saves true and keeps its lot; a mixed one scatters into new lots, so grow
several out and keep the best.
Example: farm breed hemp:wild stock + A-318 = Copper Line balanced in bay 2
farm adopt
farm adopt <module> [as <name>]
Take a mature land animal from a breeding module as a companion.
farm release
farm release <pet> into <module>
Return a companion animal to an empty compatible module.
weed
weed [bed]
Pull the weeds out of a garden bed. Each go takes a little while, and the weeds go in your hands. Put them on a compost heap. A careless pull can leave the roots in, or pull up a plant.
water
water [bed]
Water a garden bed that has dried out. You need a watering can in your hands and a tap in the room.
prune
prune [bed]
Cut back a garden bed that has grown over. You need shears in your hands, or a knife or blade in your grip.
With no bed named, these take the first bed that needs it. look <bed> shows what a bed needs.
