Gigs

In the game: help gigs Also gig gig board job board odd jobs walk-ins walk ins

Take paid jobs from a gig board.

board

look board
use board

look board lists the open gigs in the part of the city the board covers: a Suburba board lists Suburba, a Delos board lists Delos. The list is not in floor order. Each gig names its floor and its place. use board lets you read a gig, take it, or give up the gig you have.

Each gig says who it needs. Some also say what to bring. Nobody hands you those, so take the gig only if you carry them.

Every gig is somewhere you can walk to without a key, a code, or a scan. You will not be sent into a locked room.

slip

read slip

Taking a gig gives you a slip. It shows where the client is, who to ask for, the pay, who the gig needs, what to bring, and what the client wants.

client

say <name>, <question>

The client waits at the place on the slip. Ask what happened, what they need, or what the gig pays.

Example: say Prismodal, what do you need?

work

Do the work with your usual commands. Hand over anything the client asks for with give <item> to <client>. The client pays you when it is done. Good work gets a tip.

diving

A diving gig is work on a client's device: a lock, a terminal, a camera, a vehicle, a guard Sprite. It is posted only where the city's network reaches. A survey is the same kind of job with no device: you walk to a spot with a network scanner. Ask the client for the device's address with say <name>, address.

The device does not answer its keyboard. Route to its address in Abzu and use it from inside, so the slip always says to bring a dive rig, and programs too when the job runs them. The client may let you in, or you may have to break in past its ICE, or beat a short puzzle: see help puzzles. Some jobs end with you telling the client what you found, by saying it to them.

For routing, see help abzu.

walk-ins

A business can take clients who walk in. Choose the kinds at the business terminal, under Walk-ins. Clients come while the business is open and a worker is in the room. The pay goes to the till and the tip goes to the worker.

limits

You can take three gigs a day and hold one at a time. A gig you give up counts toward the three. Walk-ins do not count. Gig pay counts toward the weekly limit on pay from odd jobs. A gig ends unpaid if you take too long.
