Alchemy

In the game: help alchemy Also apothecary mix refine tend dose smoke formulate analyze claim hopper station hopper formula namecompound nameformula collect batchcheck abatch checkstation alchemycheck

Refine specimens and make chemical compounds.

With more than one station in the room, a command that names none goes to
the station holding your work. Stations of one kind share a name, so name
one by its place in line: claim second alchemy station.

alchemy

alchemy [<station>]

Open the alchemy menu at a station.

collect

collect <specimen> [from <target>]

Collect a specimen into a carried thermos. A place gives up only so much and
fills back slowly. A person can be drawn from only so often, and a draw costs
them blood.

hopper

hopper [<station>]

Inspect the material loaded in a station.

refine

refine [<station>]

Refine the loaded specimens.

mix recipe

mix <recipe> on <station>
mix extract <herb> on <station>
mix extract <herb> with <solvent> on <station>

Select a known recipe. Load its materials, then use this command again to start it.
At an apothecary table, mix extract <herb> on <station> starts an extraction of a
herb you carry, in a chemical you carry if you add with <solvent>. See
help herbalism.

mix compound

mix on <station>
mix confirm [<controls>] on <station>

Review the loaded chemicals, then confirm to make a freeform compound. Confirming
uses up everything in the hopper. The controls are temp, ph, pressure,
agitation and time, each written as name=value, as in
mix confirm temp=70 ph=6.5 on bench. A control you leave out takes its standard
setting.

tend

tend [<station>]
tend <module>

Tend the active work at a station, or an active growing cycle in a farming
module (see help cultivation).

tend vessel

tend <cool/warm/vent/stir/settle> [<station>]
tend <smother/douse> [<station>]

Work the vessel while a compound mixes. Smother or douse a station that is on fire.

Example: tend cool bench

claim cut

claim [<light/heavy/wide/split>] [keep] [<station>]

Claim a refined specimen as a cut. keep leaves its impurity in the chemical.

batchcheck

batchcheck [<station>]

Check the active work at a station. Aliases: abatch and checkstation.

claim

claim [<station>]

Collect finished work from a station.

analyze

analyze <compound>
analyze <material> on <station>
analyze <recipe chip>

Inspect a carried compound or a material at a station. What you can read from it
depends on your training. A recipe chip teaches its recipe once and then goes dead.

brew

brew <recipe> on <station>
brew experiment confirm on <station>

Start a known preparation. Use the confirmed experiment form to test loaded chemicals.

dose

dose <drug> [<amount>] [to <target>]

Use one dose. A tincture or a glass vessel takes an amount in measures, such as
dose flask 0.5. To give one to someone else you need their trust, unless they are
sedated, unconscious or down. If you are holding them and they are awake, they can
twist free, and the dose is lost.

smoke

smoke <pack>
smoke <cigarette>
smoke

Take a drag from a cigarette. A pack gives up one cigarette, which goes into a free hand
and is lit. With no name, you smoke the cigarette in your hand. The last drag finishes it.

formulate

formulate <compound> as <route>

Prepare a carried compound for one supported route. You cannot change the route later.

formula list

formula list

List your saved formulas. A book holds only so many.

formula save

formula save <compound> [as <name>]

Save the formula for a carried compound.

formula info

formula info <name>

Inspect a saved formula.

formula share

formula share <name> to <character>
formula accept
formula decline

Offer a saved formula to another character. It goes into their book only if they
take it with formula accept. They can turn it down with formula decline.

formula rename

formula rename <name> as <new name>

Change the name of a saved formula.

formula delete

formula delete <name>

Remove a saved formula from your book.

formula load

formula load <name> in <station>
formula load <name> in <station> confirm

Preview a saved formula, then confirm to load its materials.

namecompound

namecompound <item> = <name>

Name an unlabeled batch.
