Turn herbs into remedies.

Grow herbs on a farm module or gather them in the wild. See help cultivation.

extract

mix extract <herb> on <station>
mix extract <herb> <count> on <station>
mix extract <herb> all on <station>

At an apothecary table, start an extraction of a herb you carry. A count, or all, takes that many herbs of one kind in a single batch. That takes longer than one herb but less time than the same herbs one after another. When it is done, collect the tincture with claim. See help alchemy for the station commands.

preparation choices

mix prepare <herb> tea on <station>
mix prepare <herb> ointment on <station>
mix prepare <herb> dressing on <station>

Every medicinal herb has all four forms. Tea uses brew water. Ointment uses tallow. A medicated dressing uses brew water and a little cloth bolt. Counts and all work for these preparations too.

Tea is mild and comes on more slowly than a tincture. Tincture is concentrated and comes on quickly. Ointment enters through the skin over several minutes. A medicated dressing releases a larger dose slowly through the skin and has the longest tail. The plant keeps the same chemistry in every form, including its dangers.

Rustbark is a cheap pain remedy that also makes blood clot less readily. Grow it from a rustbark cutting or gather it with wild herbs.

drink

dose <tincture>

Drink one measure of a tincture as it is. It works like a weaker version of a compound made from the same herb, and it is no safer. A tincture from a strong, clean herb does more and is gentler than one from a weak, dirty herb.

dose <ointment or medicated dressing>

Apply a measure to the skin. The same command drinks tea and tincture. dose <preparation> to <patient> uses the usual drug consent rules. A medicated dressing delivers a drug. Use a medical bandage when you need to hold a bleeding wound shut.

look

look <herb>
look <tincture>

The better you know plants and chemistry, the more a look tells you about what a herb does.
