Sepulchre: the Church in a guild's seat, keeper of splintering and hunter of tech heresy.

The Church

Sepulchre cannot really be called a guild like the others. It is the religious heart of the city, sitting in a guild's seat. It holds the grand Cathedral in Palatine and a permanent seat on the Council of Six. Its patron is Saint Marrow, the Prophet, and ordained clergy carry the particle eir. Sepulchre runs the public creches and basic schooling, the ceremonies, and the doctrine.

Splintering

Sepulchre alone owns splintering, maybe the most important thing in society. Splintering is immortality. When someone dies in Deshret, Sepulchre can bring them back.

It is called splintering because the soul is said to split into fragments each time, and one shard is kept in reserve. It is not a perfect process. Each time a shard is used, bits and pieces are lost forever. Only the clergy can guide a soul shard back into a body, with a rite taught by Saint Marrow.

The Inquisition

The Inquisitors are Sepulchre's armed hand, and how it enforces its central doctrine: technology must be controlled. That is part of why each guild has its own charter and domain. As sixers rise through the ranks, they are seen as following in the steps of their patron Saint, and are trusted with more dangerous technology. Anyone outside that structure caught with unlicensed relics, forbidden wetware, or unvetted old-world machines faces an inquisitorial purge.

Rivals

Sepulchre has tense relations with Mythos over genetic experiments. It also polices the Outriders, seizing unvetted surface relics before they reach the city's markets.
