EXPERIENCE GUIDE / HELP / GENERAL / EXPERIENCE In play: help experience. Also xp, rested, earning. How experience is earned, banked, and spent.
Experience accrues while you are online. A baseline accrues as long as you
are present and responsive. It accrues much faster while you roleplay, and
part of what you would have earned is banked while you are away.Earning through roleplay
Roleplay pay requires you and at least one other player, on a different
account, to be active in the same room. Active means you have each spoken,
whispered, posed, or emoted in character within the last few minutes. A
partner away via @afk does not count. For the @afk commands, see
help afk.The rate grows with the scene around that pair:
- New people. Each person you have not roleplayed with recently adds pay.
Familiar company still earns partial credit.
- New places. A room you have not roleplayed in recently adds pay. Novelty
fades over days, so the same scene repeated earns less.
- A group of two to four. Larger rooms add nothing further.
- Public rooms.
- Quiet hours. When few players are online, earning is higher.Rested
While you are offline, the game banks part of what you would have earned on
active roleplay into a rested reserve. The reserve caps at about a week's
worth. It is not paid out when you log in. While the reserve lasts,
qualifying roleplay earns at an accelerated rate until the reserve drains.
The drain is metered: catching up takes several sessions of active
roleplay, not one long evening.Notifications
The game reports your gains as a line like "[XP] You earned 5 experience",
about once an hour while you play, and once more when you log off.Spending
