  where codes work

Add color to text with pipe codes.

A code starts with a pipe (|) and colors the text that comes after it. The game
then converts each code to the nearest color your client supports.

foreground colors

|r bright red |g bright green |y bright yellow
|b bright blue |m bright magenta |c bright cyan
|w bright white |x grey
|R dark red |G dark green |Y dark yellow
|B dark blue |M dark magenta |C dark cyan
|W light grey |X black

Lowercase letters are bright. Uppercase letters are dark.

background colors

Put |[ before the letter. A background does not change the text color.

|[r |[g |[b |[y
|[m |[c |[w |[x
|[R |[G |[B |[M

xterm256 colors

Three digits, each 0 to 5, set red, green, and blue.

|500 |050 |005 |520 |230 |555
|520 orange |552 violet |245 slate
|035 teal |530 gold

Put |[ before the digits for a background: |[300.

greyscale

|=a is black and |=z is white. The letters between go through grey.

|=a |=b |=f |=k |=p |=u |=z

Put |[= before the letter for a background: |[=m.

truecolor

|#rrggbb sets any 24-bit color. |#rgb is the short form.

|#ff0000 |#00ff00 |#0000ff |#ff8800
|#f0f |#0f0 |#00f

Put |[# before the code for a background: |[#4400aa.
Some clients show the nearest xterm256 color instead.

gradients

You can also create gradients by blending color codes.

############################################################## xterm256 wheel
#################### xterm256 ember
#################################################### xterm256 greys
######################################################################## dawn
################################################################ ocean
################################################ dusk background

control codes

|n resets color.
|/ starts a new line. |- inserts a tab. |_ inserts a space.
|u underlines. |U stops underlining.
|* swaps foreground and background.
|^ blinks.
|h brightens the next color. |H stops brightening.

where codes work

Tailoring and tattoos take foreground color. Artwork canvases take any color,
backgrounds included. Body-part descriptions take only the color granted to
that part, such as your chosen eye color in your eye description.

For tailoring, see help tailoring. For tattoos, see help body modifications.
For artwork, see help artwork. For body descriptions, see help description.
